This CPS2 was sold as „Clear-ROMs (kein Phoenix Screen und anderer Tütellüt)“ – thou: Not one original PROM, and Sound is fucked [playing the wrong samples]. Probably a early http://cps2.avalaunch.net/ conversion.
I was under the impression, that the roms were not decrypted properly. So, updating the roms would be the second task.
This is how I got it: Sound just wierd.

palchip on 9f: What does it read?
Revision of board. There I got it. Here I should have found the culpit.
still thinking the roms are bad.
Info from the seller:
It was converted using this article: http://ikotsu.blogspot.de/2010/01/progear-capcom-cps2-cavecapcom-2001.html
… but I found, that it was using the completely wrong PAL-Chip. It is a D, instead of a G. I looked at the wrong PAL. There was already a GAL programmed as G.
So, options is either selling it on, or repairing it. Will try to get a GAL programmed. Looking for a GAL16V8B-15 .
Original part is PALCE16V8H-15
Reburned GAL.
fixed it with the old wire trick.
because it was rev.4
